Heritage Toronto is excited to present its first story map as part of its program, Beyond the Battlefield: Toronto during the First World War. The program also included the unveiling of three plaques at York Memorial Collegiate in April 2016.
The map, produced by Heritage Toronto with the generous support of the Department of Canadian Heritage’s World War Commemorations Fund, traces recognizable and less familiar stories of Toronto during the First World War in Toronto across five areas: Preparing to Fight, Industries at War, Communities and Conflict, Returning Home, Remembering the Sacrifice.
The interpretive panels and map can be simultaneously experienced by clicking here. You may also choose to move back and forth between the text and the map on this page.
