MomenTO: Toronto’s Heritage of Innovation – Aerospace

September 10 @ 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM

Free

Space historian Jordan Bimm presents our fourth talk in the MomenTO: Heritage of Innovation Series. Learn how Toronto has contributed to innovations such as the Canadarm, the Beaver, and the Avro Arrow, well-known innovations that changed the world — and the galaxy. You’ll hear some of the lesser known stories, too, such as the connection between Nobel Prize winner Frederick Banting and the anti-gravity space suit!

About Jordan Bimm: Jordan Bimm is a PhD candidate at York University in Science and Technology Studies, where his research focusses on the early history of astronauts and space medicine. A former NASA Fellow and Visiting Student at Cambridge, he has received the Adam Center Prize for Cold War MIlitary History and the Sacknoff Prize for Space History.

About MomenTO – Toronto’s Heritage of Innovation: This summer and fall, Heritage Toronto is offering a series of talks on how past innovations have shaped our present and future. Presented as part of the City of Toronto’s Canada 150 program, MomenTO: Toronto’s Heritage of Innovation showcases advances in technology, healthcare, media, and other fields.
