Cabbagetown: View from the Valley

Discover the layered history of Cabbagetown, named for the vegetable grown by its Irish settlers. Learn about this neighbourhood’s development: its aboriginal use; its location as the summer home of John Graves Simcoe, Upper Canada’s first Lieutenant Governor; and its later industrialization by companies such as the Peter R. Lamb and Co. Factory, which brought prosperity but also increased pollution.
