A Rebellion Walking Tour at Mackenzie House

Samuel Lount and Peter Matthews were hanged for treason on April 12, 1838, following the failed 1837 Rebellion. William Lyon Mackenzie, one of the leaders of the rebellion, escaped to exile in the United States. This walk explores the changes in Mackenzie’s Toronto upon his return in the 1850s and climaxes with a dramatic performance in Courthouse Square. FREE
